Check and share the feed

Find the RSS URL, inspect its contents, and share it with listeners.

Your RSS feed is the connection between your site and your listeners. It lives on your domain and lets podcast apps fetch episodes from your site. You can share it directly and submit it to the directories you choose.

Each podcast has an RSS feed at:

https://your-site.example/podcast/{podcast_id}/feed.xml

Replace {podcast_id} with the podcast's numeric ID from Podcasts (/admin/content/podcast). For example, podcast 12 has /podcast/12/feed.xml.

What the feed contains

  • The podcast's title, summary, type, and other entered show metadata appear in the channel.
  • Each published episode becomes an item with a title, description from shownotes, publication date, and an audio enclosure with URL, MIME type, and file length.
  • Episodes are ordered by their Authored on date, newest first.
  • The configured feed View filters out unpublished podcasts and unpublished episodes.
  • A linked Podcast Episode Page supplies the item link. Without one, the feed falls back to the site homepage for that link.

The default feed display is part of Drupal's Podcast Feed View at /admin/structure/views/view/podcast_feed. A site builder can customize it, so a site with edited View settings may differ from these defaults.

Check it before sharing

  1. Open the feed URL in a browser and confirm the podcast title and expected episode items are present.
  2. Check each <enclosure> URL and confirm that the audio file is publicly reachable.
  3. If you use analytics, confirm the enclosure URL contains /podcast-publisher/feed/ after configuring tracking.
  4. Copy the complete public feed URL for listeners or a podcast directory. Then submit it to directories.

If an episode is missing, first check that Published is enabled on both the episode and its podcast. See Troubleshooting for other checks.
